Eustace gets extra game ban
John Eustace will miss the next three games after seeing his original three-match ban extended by a further game this afternoon.
The key midfielder was given an extra game ban after the FA felt he failed to leave the field of play against Stoke in a timely manner.
Having already missed the game against Plymouth on Saturday, Eustace will be banned for the games against Hull, Coventry and Barnsley.

Cosidering the initial sending off decision was at the very least debatable ( in my opinion a caution only), this is a ridiculous decision , and proves that the FA could not give a **** about the smaller clubs. Considering what Cole did at Chelsea , and got away with it. Lets also see what the Liverpool player gets thrown at him. If the FA continue in this vein of persecuting the smaller clubs then football will be finished in thisd country.

Gilesy agree with your sentiments, but there are another 87 clubs treated like us.
The FA demand respect for their officials even if they are totally wrong. I think Styles made many mistakes during that game ..but unless it is to the detriment of one of the big four he walks away unscathed. Given this situation he has no need to improve.
I suspect our reaction to Rob Styles has in fact made it worse for JE but Styles got little right and should be sent for retraining or early retirement...but it wont happen after all the FA a toothless bulldog cept when the lesser clubs are involved

I agree with the fact that all but the top four are treated badly by the FA but, I do think that players have to respect the referee.
In turn FIFA have to change the rules so the FA can change ref decisions retrospectively. I know that if you feel wronged its natural to be frustrated but as professional role models and knowing that that there is Zero chance that the ref will change his mind then JE should of accepted the decision and left the field.

As it took him around 60 seconds to leave the field - from the far side of the pitch - and as their player was still down, then to increase the ban length is absurd... if this sets a precendent then players should be banned when ambling off during a substitution. From what I remember of the incident, Eustace hardly stood there like a moron, throwing his toys out of the pram. We all know the top few clubs get away with a lot more than the rest of us. Grrrrr.

Swedehornet, respect is earned not granted automatically no matter what walk of life you are in. Styles has NOT got the respect coz he hasnt deserved it.He is a poor ref who also gave us a ridicoulous penalty. Apparently this is his last season on the f.A. payroll, so hopefully we wont have to suffer him again. A 4 match ban for what was no more than a yellow card offence is an absolute disgrace. Hopefully it will galvanise the boys and spur us to promotion. Bring on Hull!!!

if that is worth an extra game ban the mascherano should be banned for 10 matches!!!
by the way rob styles ruined another game friday night. he did the northampton v forest game, and suprise suprise he sent someone off!! our local paper slated his performance and gave him a 3.

I personally feel Mascherano was harshly dealt with although I could see it coming, are you not allowed to ask the ref for an opinion anymore? Bennett hardly gave him warning before sending him off, looks to me that the hardcore refs now have an extra excuse for sending off a player thus ruining the game they're pretending to control.....It makes me sick, the best refs are the ones that you don't notice!!

A truly bizzare decision, once more underlining that the game is run by corrupt old men in dark suits...the kind of men who have not a shred of decency...the kind of men who happily pull their trouser legs up down the lodge...
Nasty, spiteful, powerful and totaly corrupt...and probably never kicked a ball in their lives...
Evidence, if it were needed, that there is indeed a conspiracy within the FA to prevent smaller clubs from succeeding.
If Mr Styles ever comes near this ground again then I will happily be banned for life for running onto the pitch and chinning the little ****.
However, if we had a midfield worthy of the name then we could cope with this loss but we haven't...thanks to the manager.

The FA could have made a rod for their backs if the press had given this game some coverage, which you would expect from the two top teams in the league. They can still treat Cole and Mascherano as they want to as nobody will know how badly they have treated the smaller club. We need to make a big noise about this if Mascherano and Cole get off scot free. Rafa offering to talk to Hackett is just another ploy to get treated softly by the FA, if they fall for it then they are more stupid than I thought and totally spineless.

how dare you suggest that the great hordes who "follow" the big four should be stirred in their armchairs by their petulant darlings being challenged!
Sie Alex must rail & rant every time Man U players are tackled & multi millionaire players must be above all restraint. Its not for the likes of us-without a prawn sandwich to hand-to question arte betters.

Colin, you are wrong as usual! We do have the midfield to cope in the absence of JE.
Williamson was brilliant at Bristol when he came on, and also played very well against Stoke and Plymouth, capped by a brilliant goal.
He is excellent cover for JE, and also Francis and Williams should be available soon. What happened to Aidy's quote about Rinaldi last week?
Regarding coverage, I think Sky are steering clear of us because of our ugly style.
They hated the game at Stoke earlier in the season. Most of the top teams get more live games than us. I think they chose the WBA game because of the Baggies, not us!
Anyway, to hell with the critics, the FA, and Rob Styles. We can gain promotion despite them. In fact, I think all of this negative stuff works in our favour.

more concerned in getting HH & AJ in on loan personally

Surely we need to accept that HH is no longer a Watford player and deal with it, move on, we need our current strikers to do the job. Have faith. Its is the season after all.

Williamson has performed adequately enough and contributed a goal.
Perhaps Hendersons enforced absence will give others a chance to shine. Who's to say that an Ellington/John partnership won't work? A further 90 minutes together might do the trick.

Fully agree JohnBoy. Williamson is a perfectly adequate cover for JE, and also give Ellington and John a chance to shine together.
Our promotion hopes do not depend on Henderson and Eustace!
We have a good squad now since the January signings. More than good enough to see off the contenders who are also stuttering.
My only worry is Hull. I did warn about them a couple of weeks ago, but several posters scoffed at this!
Anyway, we are good enough to get a point at Hull. Then we must win our home games!
Look's like this season's points total will be the lowest ever to win promotion. But all we have to do is finish in the top two, the points total is irrelevant this season!

For a minute there I thought that JohnBoy was suggesting an "Elton John" partnership might do the business for Watford. Maybe worth a try. If we do not get promotion this season it will not be Mr Styles who is to blame, but our inabilty to score in the last 4 or 5 games, which we have totally dominated and really should have won. Eight or ten points squandered there.

I've looked into my crystal ball and foreseen the following.... Hull's good run will be brought to an end on Saturday (2-0, Watford win); Gary Johnson is cracking up at Bristol and they'll start to slide down the table now; Stoke are terrible but they've only just realised - they'll pick up no more than six points in the remainder of the season; WBA are thinking about the cup and will shock Portsmouth in the semi-final. Distracted by Wembley final they won't even make the play-offs (pipped by Palace) .
Three straight wins (starting at Hull) will see the Golden Boys cement their place at the top of the table. Championship confirmed home to Palace.
There, you can all relax now....

Key is Hull --actually stopping then winning is the issue--there after all our hopes it comes down to that!
IF we keep our unbeaten run going @ Hull then I think we have it back in our hands & will do it.

Clappers, clappers, please stop all this talk of promotion, it isn't going to happen for the simple reason that we AINT BLOODY GOOD ENOUGH!!!!
How do teams normally respond to seven draws and hardly any goals, with a series of wins? Nope, they start to lose games and that's exactly what will happen in the next few weeks, starting at Hull.
West Brom will crush us 4-1, and then you watch them go!
In fact, I think we'll struggle to retain a top six place between now and the end of the season, and in any case, we won't have the mettle or the right mentality to succeed in the play offs.
The fact remains, whether you like it or not, we have gone backwards under Boothroyd since promotion two years ago...the squad is weaker, the style of football is awful, and now we can't even score goals.
Personally i can't wait till he leaves in the summer...bring in Gary Johnson, a proper manager. Could you imagine Boofer the hoofer doing what Johnson has done with Bristol City? They didn't even have a fraction of the funding Hoofroyd did.

AB had very little funding when he got us up so your comparison is a bit skin deep in my view.
Ho Hum.

Colin - you say that we should stop talking about promotion because we ain't good enough - good enough for what, promotion or the premiership? Look at the table. In spite of a bad run of results, we have a game in hand over the 3 teams above us and winning that, perfectly achievable, will take us to the the top, basically implying that we are good enough. We have turned a run of defeats into a run of draws and there is no reason why we cant improve on that - especially when you look at the remaining fixtures. Even if the only reason we make it is that others around us fail - that stills makes us good enough. What's your problem with that? As to your odd opinion of AB, thankfully you're in a rather small minority there.

thats not the point jimbo, i think everyone accepts we need to yoyo for another season, take the cash, build the stand, strengthen on the pitch then finally establish. Having said that, we would only need to find 3 teams worse than us next season, the 2 other promoted sides for a start and a.n.other. Not beyond the realms, what dya reckon?

We'll see come the end of the season. I personally don't think we have the cutting edge to do it...or the service for that matter, MacAnuff powder puff is a joke, can anyone remember the last decent cross he put into the box...exactly!
Boofers has been the architect of his own downfall with some truly awful signings...whilst the only real genuine talent has long gone.
With stadium redevelopment set to eat up any remaining capital, the next five years is starting to look bleak.
Still Simpson, ASHTON AND Boothroyd will be long gone by then...and Cardfiff will be a distant and largely insignificant memory.

I cant remember a season like this when none of the top 4 Clubs look like convincing promotion candidates.

Yes a very odd end of season although Hull are looking good...if we get a point up there it will be a good result.
Colin i agree Jobi's crossing is not great but he does pull defences around and make space, not totally unlike tommy smith.
Without a doubt we have lost our three quality players and AJ and Ben, but in fairness Aidy has bought well in January and I have to say Sadler/Bromby & Eustace have strengthened our team.
What you and I will never do is succeed in getting the clappers to see the real problems.
A front man who gives his all but scores 3 goals in the last 25, and is even outscored by Duke who doesnt get many starts, Aidy has bought at least six strikers to my knowledge other than Marlon and none have really worked...cept for Darius and in striking terms he has had five good months in almost three seasons, and do we need goals.
However, Aidy is restricted by us not being a large club...i am sure we should be a top Div 1 team and are punching well above our weight which is credit to him and GS.
Overall we most prob have a better team than we deserve but a team not as good as the clappers think and we are still in with a chance of some big loot so keep supporting the lads.

Cgris much of this I accept but DH is used as a target man not really a striker & even in this role he scored resasonably well in promo season `cos MK helped him-all his partners recently have been poor-IF Ne played on his toes rather than his heels he would score more as DH takes defenders away-THAT is the issue & I hope CJ will do that.
One of the biggest reasons for our unbeaten run id DH-with hm, & JE in I would be certain of not getting beat @ Hull-I am less certain now . Simply swapping him foe NE in this formation would be dangerous & I would go for CJ & SK-not great but safe I think.
I used to sit next to a guy & we had a version of this debate re HH & DW--I loather Webbers habit of taking people on on halfway line & losing the ball--many goals against directly from this--he loved Danny`s little tricks & occasional brilliance--He hated HH first touch--I loved his overall game inc him winning 80% of the clearing headers when we faced corners--depends how you see the game but like HH v DW I suspect Hendo will have a better future career than NE.

To put it politely, I think it’s fair to say that the jury’s still out on Boothroyd’s ability in the transfer market. However, I do think that with the recent additions of Bromby, Eustace and, to a lesser extent, Sadler, we’re only a decent striker (and, ideally, a wide player that can deliver an end product) away from being a very fair side indeed.
Of course, until January we did possess a very decent striker indeed and whatever the real reasons behind his departure, King should never have been allowed to leave when he did. But that argument has been done to death and I don’t want to start it off again.
Whether, in the event that promotion is achieved (and I think it will be), Boothroyd can be trusted to spend the windfall wisely is debatable. I certainly think his policy of signing forwards who have fallen on hard times needs a rethink (Leroy Lita for six million, anyone?). Perhaps Simpson should seriously consider bringing in a director of football (whatever that is) to guide Aidy’s hand in the transfer market.
