A van was stolen in Bushey Heath on Tuesday after its driver left the keys in the ignition while making a delivery.

The theft took place at around 3.40pm in Paynesfield Road.

The driver and her colleague left the keys in the ignition when they got out to deliver a parcel to an address and turned to see a white male getting into the driver's seat.

He made off along Paynesfield Road in the direction of Elstree Road.

The van, an un-marked white Renault panel van, was later recovered in Round Bush, Aldenham, the following day.

Several parcels were still inside the vehicle.

Other parcels were later recovered from Barnet Lane, Borehamwood and a further box was left outside Borehamwood Police Station.

Investigating Officer, PC Geoff Webb said: "It is possible that whoever stole the vehicle decided that the contents were of no value to him and discarded them at points in his journey."
