Neal Parlane scored a fantastic century as West Herts got their Home Counties Premier League campaign off to an impressive start.
The New Zealand opener made 153 as the Stags posted 280 for three declared, before North Mymms were dismissed for 152 to complete a 128-run Division Two East victory on Saturday.
Parlane's great knock featured two sixes and 16 fours and, together with Steve Clark, posted 199 for the second wicket at Park Road.
Clark was unable to complete his century, falling for 89 after also scoring two maximums and ten fours.
However, the opening day joy was not shared by Langleybury and Hemel Hempstead.
Although Bury posted a useful 243 for eight - thanks largely to 88 from new skipper Gregg Cooper and 72 from predecessor Ross Channer - opponents Harpenden eased to a six-wicket win on the back of an unbeaten 108 from opener Will Bates.
Fellow Division Two East club Hemel were also beaten, losing by eight wickets at Stevenage, while in Division One Radlett were rolled over for just 92 by High Wycombe and lost by seven wickets.
