The Health Campus WILL be discussed by a planning committee tonight - despite a last minute hitch.

It emerged earlier that the Highways Agency has today renewed its holding objection on the scheme.

The agency has concerns about the impact the £1 billion scheme will have on the M1 motorway.

The objection means Watford Borough Council's development control committee will not be able to grant planning permission for the project until after June 4 or unless the direction is lifted.

However, the council has said it does not prevent the committee from considering the application tonight.

It will then be able to make a "resolution to grant permission".

The Highways Agency's objection should not cause a delay in the process.

The project still has to be referred to the government for approval.

Check the Watford Observer website for information as it happens after tonight's meeting.

Is this the same Government Highways Agency that messed up the M25 junction at Hunton Bridge for months?
Now they are trying to stop our hospital! What have they got against Watford?

Actually the Highways Agency has asked for extra info.

Unfortunatly, despite promising this would be sorted, Watford Council's planners have failed to sort it out.

How dare the Highways Agency raise concerns about the impact the Health Campus may have on the M1 at this late stage? The Campus promises to be the best thing to happen to health services in West Hertfordshire for many, many years. The HA clearly have no concerns over the impact that the current road works at Hemel Hempstead are having on local people so why is the Campus scheme different?

The Highways Agency requested additional information from the applicants. This was to be provided by the applicant's transport consultants. It was not for Watford Council as the local planning authority to provide this information.
