12:41pm Friday 16th May 2008

A woman has been given a six-month conditional discharge for failing to ensure her child attends school.

Sally Gaskell, of Greenbank Road, Watford, told Dacorum Magistrates Court she tried everything to get her son to go to school.

Ms Gaskell said her two other daughters attended without problems but she couldn't get her son to attend lessons at Westfield Community Technology College.

Ms Gaskell pleaded guilty to failing to secure regular attendance at school of Terry, between October 12, 2007, and February 4, 2008.

Ms Gaskell told the court her son had been bullied at the school and she tried everything to get him to go but without success.
