In other words, yet another politically correct event and a load of codswallop and nonsense for simple souls who believe in these things.
Oh dear, all the PC cliches and buzzwords are there. Multicultural event. Promote friendship and diversity. Sacred Space area. Faith groups' beliefs and values.
Afraid I won't be there, luvvies. Nor will anyone else in their right mind.

A lovely event indeed. And whilst we;ll be having a lovely day the likes of Mr Stockdill can spend there energ sitting in their arm chairs moaning about the world.

Behind this event is an organisation called "The Women's Federation for World Peace" which was founded by Reverend and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon. (see http://www.upf.org/i

I for one am not comfortable that Mayor Thornhill has handed over this event and the Colosseum to an off-shoot of the Moonies. Is this really something to celebrate?

Well spotted igloo - I've looked back at previous events in Watford under this title and the WFFWP seems to have taken a leading role in all of them.
Three things: firstly there's no clear connection between them and this event which seems odd. No reference is made to their founding father on the WFFWP's web site - you have to look at the main UPF web site to discover that information and finally if what igloo claims is true, has St Michael's School been naively hoodwinked into sponsoring this event?

It all seems very insidious and quite dodgy if you ask me.

In fact, if you trawl carefully through the website there are TWO organisations taking part that are fronts for the Moonies.
The Women's Federation for World Peace, which appears as a participant in something called "Bridge of Peace", is quite clearly an offshoot, as Igloo says, and if you click on the link for "Sacred Space area" you will find that one of the participants there is the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. It doesn't take much research with Google to discover that this also is an organisation founded by the Moonies, which began life as the Unification Church. I can remember the Moonies from the days when they used to send earnest young people round the pubs in Fleet Street selling roses at £1 each to raise money for their so-called church. All of them had permanent smiles on their faces that looked as if they had been sprayed on and a vacant look in the eyes which indicated they had been totally brainwashed.
Dorothy does seem to be getting into bed, so to speak, with some strange people these days. It's a wonder the Scientologists aren't there as well!

I wore my St George's Day tie on April 23 but I didn't see anyone else wearing one! I rather tend to think that most indigenous English people feel perfectly comfortable with their race and heritage and don't feel the need to celebrate it. We are, after all, still the majority by far. It seems to be ethnic minorities and those of much smaller nations, like the Scots, Welsh and Irish, who feel the need to assert themselves and "celebrate" their ethnicity in order to convince themselves of their self esteem, especially because so many of them seem to have a chip on their shoulder about the English! After all, the Scots, Welsh and Irish (including the Republic) combined together as nations total only about 10 million - or one-fifth of the population of England.
