Former Watford FC and England player Tony Currie forced to take cover as fans cause trouble at Yellow and Red Lion pub
Former Hornets and England star Tony Currie had to take shelter after a disturbance broke out at the Yellow and Red Lion pub at Saturday’s Watford FC home match.
Alan Palmer, the pub’s secretary, said Mr Currie and his wife had to take cover after young Posh fans started throwing objects and spitting through the gate of the pub.
The couple were unharmed in the attack, but a pub worker and a female fan were both hit by objects thrown into the garden.
Mr Palmer said: "We were about to leave the pub garden and he had to take shelter for about five to 10 minutes.
"All who were there found it quite upsetting, it was clearly an unprovoked attack on people and families in the garden."
Police were called to the incident but no arrests were made.
