Herts Inclusive Theatre to hold Bushey Bop in Moatfield
5:30pm Monday 22nd October 2012 in News
Fundraisers are invited to take part in a charity fancy dress bop in Bushey.
On Sunday, November 4, Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT) is hosting its annual two kilometre "Bushey Bop" at the Moatfield in Bushey.
But this year, instead of walking or running the route, participants are asked to bop around the playing field while local drumming musician Nao Masuda and her partner Xavier Boulager perform.
Bands "The Effects" and "Relentless" from West Herts College will also be present, as will accordion player Mike Ruff to warm up and keep the crowd going.
Herts Inclusive Theatre’s producer, Emma Harrington, said: "The Bushey Bop is a fantastic afternoon’s entertainment for all the family, we all had so much fun last year we are hoping that this year we will attract even more members of the local community to take part in the Bop.
"It’s a great opportunity for local musicians and entertainers to join together to help raise funds for HIT.
"Due to recent funding cuts we are looking for initiative ways to raise funds ourselves.
"This event is a great way of bringing the community together and providing live music means that people of all abilities will enjoy themselves equally.
"We are hoping that White Watch from Watford Fire Brigade will be able to bring their engine down and start the race off like last year.
"The boppers loved the sirens starting them off, and having a climb in the engine afterwards."
Caroline England, HIT’s artistic director, added: "I was lucky enough to be a torchbearer for the Paralympics, so I will bring my torch with me for boppers to have their photo with.
"I was also wondering what fancy dress to wear and have decided to wear the costume I wore when I performed in the Paralympic opening ceremony."
The event starts at 1.00pm, with the Sponsored Bop at 2:00pm. The afternoon finishes with team games and live music inside in The Bushey Rangers Community Club where hot food and drinks can be purchased.
Everyone who successfully completes the bop will receive a medal and certificate.
Herts Inclusive Theatre provides opportunities to take part in drama, movement and music to children, young people and adults, no matter what their ability is.
Workshops are run in Bushey, Watford, Hemel Hempstead and Stanmore.
