'Good' Kool Kidz nursery 'determined to reach outstanding'

Staff and children at a Radlett nursery are celebrating after receiving a "good" rating from Ofsted.
Kool Kidz, based in Watling Street, had its inspection carried out in September by the non-ministerial government department.
Manager Ayelet Landsman said she was over the moon with the rating, given that the nursery has only been open since April.
She said: "It’s a real pat on the back for all of us. It shows not only how wonderful our children are, but all the hard work put in by the staff.
"Although it’s not ‘outstanding’, we felt it was the best we could do, given how new we are.
"We do have another nursery, based in Edgware, that has been rated ‘outstanding’ in the past.
"We’ll be looking to achieve this for the Radlett nursery too."
According to the report, "staff have a good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and have a range of qualifications and experiences which enable them to make the most of any opportunity to promote children's learning through play, individual support and group activities.
"Children are happy and keen learners, are active in making decisions about the routines and their own care needs; demonstrating a strong sense of belonging and self-esteem.
"Children thrive and enjoy a range of interesting experiences in a well-managed, safe and stimulating environment."
Inspector Tina Kelly did highlight one flaw that the nursery would need to address to achieve an "outstanding" rating. That is to review and plan opportunities for imaginative play to make sure resources reflect the ages and stages of development of the children attending.
Ms Landsman said: "Already we’re putting into practice the inspector’s recommendation. We’ve created a tea party tent and shop – all to encourage role play and imaginative learning.
"We’re determined to reach ‘outstanding’."
