Members of Watford Rotary Club have raised hundreds of pounds for charity, with a Rag Bag Collection.
On Saturday, October 20, Rotarians stood outside Asda in Watford, collecting bags of rags for the Watford Peace Hospice.
During the previous week, shoppers had been given empty bags with the request that they fill them full of unwanted items, and bring them back to the supermarket.
Rotary club member Peter Clark said: "The hospice is able to sell on the rags for their funds.
"By the end of the day we had a van-load of bags and assorted other contributions for the Hospice – new clothes, books and toys."
At the same time, members also took a bucket collection, raising £315.
Rotarian and Peace Hospice trustee Ginny Edwards, who organised the event, added: "This was a fantastic effort – we are really grateful to the Asda shoppers for their generosity and the volunteers from the club and Friends of Rotary who made it all possible."
Watford Rotary Club is still on the hunt for new members. To find out about joining, contact Sue Clark at petersueclark@btinternet.com or phone 01923 670429.
