Ebury Way users encounter escaped cow

Joggers and dog walkers were given fright after an aggressive cow came charging down a country cycle path this morning.

Police were called after the escaped young animal was seen in Ebury Way, near Croxley Common Moor.

Watford resident Neal Emery met the grey cow when he was on his morning run along the path and had to think quickly when it charged him.

The 43-year-old software developer said: "I saw it and it looked docile enough, but when it saw me it just went for me. I went one way and then it went the other.

"It was so instant I did not have time to think. But afterwards I did think ‘blimey, that could have been bad'.

"It was a grey cow with a tag in its ear."

The Wilmington Close resident added that as he passed the cow he saw dog-walkers crouched behind a bush hiding from the animal.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said the cow was captured around 10am and later returned to its owner.
