Gold post box to remain Gold post box to remain

The gold post box in Watford High Street, which commemorates boxer Watford-born Anthony Joshua’s Olympic victory, is set become a permanent feature.

Royal Mail announced today that the commemorative post boxes will remain painted gold permanently and also have plaques installed nearby with the name of the Olympic or Paralympic athlete it celebrates.

Anthony Joshua, who grew up on the Meriden estate, won gold in the superheavyweight category at the London Olympics.

Since the games Royal Mail has painted 110 post boxes gold in the home towns Olympic and Paralympic gold medal-winners to mark their achievements.

Well, I hope they give it another coat of paint as it looks pretty awful at the moment!
