Families and friends of three fallen soldiers from south west Hertfordshire were among 50 people who took part in a fundraising dog walk in their honour.

The walk, around the outside of Cassiobury Park, was preceded with a dedication to Tom Sawyer, Chris Harrison and Tom Lake, all of whom were killed in action in Afghanistan in the past four years.

This was followed by Gill Harrison's recital of the traditional Remembrance Ode written by Lawrence Binyon and an explanation of the importance of the welfare work of the Royal British Legion.

Sue Sawyer, mother of Tom, said she was delighted with the turnout of 50 people and 22 dogs.

She said: "It went very well and despite the weather, which was pouring down, we had a good turnout.

"We wanted to raise money for the Royal British Legion because they have done so much for us.

"Remembrance Sunday is always very hard as it brings it all home to us, any anniversary is tough going but it does help to know that so many people are thinking of them.

"Tom and Chris both had dogs and when Tom was away for work we used to look after the dog."
