Police 0845 non-emergency number to be discontinued

Hertfordshire Constabulary is set to discontinue it 0845 non-emergency number from next year.

The number - 0845 33 00 222 - will be stopped in April after the force launched its non-emergency 101 number last year.

However residents are still urged to call 999 if they need the police in an emergency.

And it's been replaced by that 101 number. But those who dial the number to report car thefts, criminal damage or minor road accidents will be charged for their trouble, as calling 101 costs 15 pence. And who's profiting the money?

Secondly, it feels like you're phoning a call centre instead of the police, "for Herts police press 2, for etc press that and so on. Plus sometimes it takes ages until you get a response, answer.

I have to agree, my experience using 101 wasn't a satisfying one.
