A life-long Watford Football Club fan has invented an app to help raise money towards the Hornets’ registered charity in just a click.

The app tracks the downloader’s online purchases and gives a percentage of the retailer's sale to Watford FC Community Sport and Education Trust.

Richard Franks, who is a season ticket holder and attends home and away games with his two sons, Jack and Oliver said the app is a lot more simple in action than it is to describe in words.

he said: "Once the app is downloaded, all internet search engines, like Google for example, will tell the supporter which companies are giving money from purchases by colouring their search lines in red.

"Each company chooses how much they donate and we've got most of the big brands supporting us so we felt launching this could really make a difference to the club's community trust."

Through the non-profit app, called Give4Sure, Mr Franks provides marketing, design and IT support free to the club's community trust.

The self-funded community trust, founded in 2004, is dedicated to providing community projects and activities, which focus on sports participation, social inclusion and health and education.

He added: "I just wanted to do something for my club."

"They've given me so much enjoyment over the years, and I know through my sons how much good they do in the local community."

Hornets' Head Coach Gianfranco Zola spoke kindly of the initiative.

He said: "For a supporter to go to such trouble shows what Watford Football Club means to people in the town."

"I like my gadgets and am online a lot so I'll definitely be downloading the app.

"I hope everyone can support the Trust in this way."
