Hertfordshire’s coroner court has been praised for the service it provides the county's residents.

The service has retained its ISO 9001 standard for the sixth consecutive year and was commended by the auditors who inspected it.

The auditors’ report said: "The organisation has established and maintained its management system in line with the requirements of the standard.

"It has demonstrated to the audit team that it has the ability to systematically achieve the requirements for services within the scope of its activities and in accordance with its policy and objectives."

The court, which is based in Hatfield but caters to the whole county, handles around 400 inquests a year.

Edward Thomas, HM Coroner, added: "I am very proud of our team and the work that they do to improve the work of the Coroner Service for the community of Hertfordshire.

"To hold the ISO rating for six continuous years is a great achievement."
