Croxley Green methodist church was briefly turned into a festive forest as residents showed off their creative side by making offerings for the annual Christmas tree festival.

The event, now in its fourth year, saw 28 offerings from community groups put on display in the church on Saturday (December 15) to raise money for homelessness charity Crisis.

Reverend Gill Hulme, who organised the event, said: "It was a lovely community event to have so many community groups together.

"It was a very busy and productive day, and really got people into the spirit of Christmas."

She added: "The trees are very imaginative, not traditional at all. They were very creative in their interpretations, because some did the same carol but they looked completely different."

One tree, by the Croxley Paper Crafters, was just eight inches tall, while the local food bank brought a tree made of tinned food, topped with a bottle of washing up liquid.

Reverend Hulme said: "It really transforms the church. The next day we had our carols by candlelight service and seeing the trees in the candlelight was particularly nice."
