Three Rivers District Council and Watford Borough Council launch Homelessness Prevention Protocol

Many families will be looking forward to celebrating together at home this Christmas but a new scheme has been launched to help those facing spending the festive season on the streets.

Three Rivers District Council and Watford Borough Council have launched the Homelessness Prevention Protocol to reduce homelessness in their area.

The initiative, launched on December 14, will see the organisations working together with housing associations to make the best use of available housing and providing direct help and advice for those at risk of homelessness.

Watford Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said: "This is not an easy time for many people and sadly homelessness is increasing.

"There are positive steps we can take together working across boundaries to ensure that advice is in place."
