Police investigate cash machine fire in Abbots Langley

Police are investigating after a suspicious fire started in a cash point in Abbots Langley.

Firefighters from Garston were called to the small blaze in the machine in the Spar in School Mead at around 4.30am today.

Watch Commander Tony Adair said there was no obvious fire when his crew arrived at the store.

He said: “The alarms were going off in the shop but there was nothing obvious, although we could smell something was burning.

“Then we noticed the front of the cash machine was melted and was smouldering inside.”

Mr Adair said the manager was on site to let the firefighters into the shop to extinguish the fire from the inside.

He added: “The police were called as it was thought the fire was possibly of doubtful origin.”

ooh give me strength - ,just a reminder to all in and around Abbots Langley, put your hand above screen when typing your fecking pin code number in. And, if you see, feel, or think there is someone nearby that you are not happy with - just ring this easy to remember number 999. Now how hard is that. Oh but here comes the but .... if you know you are in the RED, you have niche, nil, nothing then possibly the bank has swipped your card from you, nonetheless, contact them, talk to them, they need to know, and you need to know that your card and PIN number is SAFE.
