Bushey woman praises Christmas staff at Watford General Hospital

A woman from Bushey has praised medical staff, after her husband was rushed to Watford General Hospital on Boxing Day.

Bertram Davis, 89, was having difficulty breathing on Christmas Eve. After calling an ambulance, his wife Marie opted to keep him at home.

The 80-year-old, who owned Chef’s Corner in The Parade before it became Yates, said: "On Christmas day we called an ambulance again but we decided to stay at home.

"On Boxing Day he had to have dialysis and they discovered he had a chest infection, and fluid had spread around his heart.

"He was taken into the resuscitation ward and everyone was so kind and amazing, despite it being so busy. While we were there eight people came in at the same time."

After treatment Mr Davis was eventually allowed to come home from hospital yesterday.

Mrs Davis said: "I haven’t got enough praise for the people who worked in the hospital over Christmas."

We should have more of these stories recognising the hard work which does go on. Hopefully those that must post on every topic on here will at some time add a post of admiration?

today i have supported, within my paid basic employment ..,. a lady who needed an urgent medication prescirption delivery, a lady who was coming home from hosital following a stroke, a man who had had his bank card cloned, the fire service who had to attend following out of hours fire panel call, a lady who had a water leak in kitchen, and three ladies who were worried about another lady who had been admitted to hospital. not to mention taking down xcmas decs at the very least. Vulnerable elderly people are so not supported and catered for irrespective of family members in my experience and I think you should shut the feck up or support them before making your comments viral.

why does every comment on this website have to be so negative? All the armchair spouters get together and rant....
All the staff of all the emergency services and more give up their family Christmas to serve the public, at no extra pay, because it's their vocation.
I too, am #holdingmybreath

What i am trying to say Lumpy, is that the gloomy, miserable and depressing stories seem to attract more comments that turn into mini immature playground battles, whilst the rare stories which contain news like this are often overlooked.

This was picked up by my twelve year old, so I'm surprised you needed to ask for clarification.

What's your point caller, in fact, what what actually is your agenda, I can never recall you having any opinions on any story what so ever?

If you have done the above, then good for you, you should be praised for it and people deserve to hear about it, why shut the feck up about that?

You do have a point, saddly when its a 'good news' story people I guess are of the same opinion so there is no dicussion to be had. But doesnt mean we shouldnt take the time to acknowledge it.

So on that note I'm glad Mr Davis was well looked after and is recovering well too. Its sad but all too often we only concentrate on the bad stories that come out of the NHS and whilst law of averages means they cant get everything right law of averages also means that they DO get millions of things right too. We should all be grateful for the NHS and those that work in it, its not perfect but its the envy of the world for a very good reason

@Garston Tony - nail on the head, it's just a few seconds to show a little respect :)

I totally agree with Tony.

But I'm not sure what me typing that added to the discussion.

Sometimes its nice for people who only ever seem to be attacked (as a group/organisation) to hear that people do actually appreciate them LSC

LSC your right, I've been thinking that what the WO comments needs is a like/dislike counter or thumbs up/down like some news websites, that way it can be seen to appreciate posts without comment.

Any chance WO?

That's not a bad idea theturpster. I read many stories on here that have me smiling or thinking 'Good for you!'.

I'm not quite as grumpy as you all think you know. But just typing 'Well done' to every one story in 10 is hardly debate and certainly not interesting.
