New vandal-proof safety mirror for central Watford subway, from Hertfordshire County Council grant

A vandal-proof mirror has been installed in a central Watford underpass to give pedestrians a better view of what’s going on in the main passage.

The initiative has been undertaken to make the subway between The Crescent and Watford Fields safer and to deter antisocial behaviour.

It was funded after Hertfordshire County Council gave Watford Borough Council a grant of £55 for the new mirror.

The money came from the council’s locality budget.

Vandal proof?! no such thing - as of sometime last night it now has a large chunk smashed from it and the rest has been scraped to the point it is now fairly useless!

Old news this one. The Lib Dems were claiming the credit as usual in October, but of course, were only stirred into action by Labour's campaign to improve pedestrian safety. Pity they stopped at one, because there are a dozen or so that need replacing in central Watford.
