Three lanes closed on M25 clockwise at Maple Cross

Three lanes of the clockwise M25 at Maple Cross have been closed following a multi-vehicle crash earlier this afternoon.

Lanes two, three and four have been closed by the exit slip road and traffic congestion has been reported as far back as Junction 16 for the M40.

Highways Agency officials say they do not expect traffic to return to normal until 5.15pm.

I was nearly involved in this accident and the reason it happened was that drivers were ignoring the speed restrictions that were put in place and driving to close to each other. I had a white mercedes about 2 foot away from my bumper 30 seconds before this happened I moved over to let them pass and I wouldn't be surprised if it was her that caused this. I just hope the person on the motorbike was ok.
