Police car damaged in high-speed crash at Beechen Grove and Clarendon Road junction, Watford

Two police cars were involved in a high-speed crash in Watford town centre on Saturday night (January 12).

The marked vehicles came together in Beechen Grove, at the junction with Clarendon Road at around 9.30pm, causing extensive damage.

No police officers or members of the public were injured in the crash but one vehicle was left facing the wrong way having lost both of its back wheels.

It is not clear whether the vehicles were responding to an emergency at the time of the crash but a full investigation has been launched by Hertfordshire Constabulary.

A police spokesman said: "Police are investigating a road traffic collision between two police vehicles which occurred at around 2130 on Saturday evening on Beechen Grove at the junction with Clarendon Road, Watford.

"We are able to confirm that there were no injuries. A full investigation into the collision has now commenced."

Both back wheels? In these days of front wheel drive and independant suspension, that is going some. I've seen a whole rear axle taken out at Bovingdon, but that was a Demolition Derby and was a Mk2 Granada with a live rear axle.
