Pupils at Edge Grove School, in Aldenham Village, re-live history in 'action packed' lesson
4:30pm Monday 21st January 2013 in News By Anna Slater
Children swapped their school uniforms for Roman princess and gladiator costumes during a history lesson.
Year three pupils at Edge Grove School, in Aldenham Village, were given the chance to spend a day in the life of a Roman.
They were given maps, pictures and games typically used in Roman times, and were taught about the era using quiz games.
Student Bode Kolawole said: "It was action packed - my favourite part of the Roman Day was when I got to watch the gladiator fight."
At the end of the day, the gladiators fought in battle for the Emperor’s approval as the girls played authentic Roman instruments in the background.
Another student, Balerki Puplampu, said: "I really enjoyed watching the battle at the end - it was so exciting."
