Police warn of distraction burglaries in West Watford

Elderly residents in West Watford are being warned to be vigilant after two attempted distraction burglaries in the area.

Police officers said in the first incident, on Monday January 14, a male gained entry to the home of an elderly lady in Chester Road after asking to check her boiler and radiators.

Then on Friday a male attempted to enter a property in Belgrave Avenue claiming to be checking gas and water supplies in the street.

Residents who spot suspicious activity in the area are asked to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency telephone number 101.

In all seriousness, let's hope these criminals are caught. More importantly, let's hope they are punished properly.
