Police hunt for teenager after rifle reports in Cassiobury Park

Police are searching for a teenager after officers were scrambled to reports of a male with a rifle in Cassiobury Park.

Response cars and a helicopter rushed to the park shortly before 12.30pm on January 2 after calls from members of the public.

The rifle is now thought to have been a toy. But officers would like to speak to the teenage boy, described by witnesses, brandishing the gun.

Anyone with information can call Hertfordshire Constabulary on its non-emergency telephone number 101.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I'm surprised they found in between going to McDonalds and leaving their cars parked up with the engine running maybe this enables them to make high speed chase to the Toby for lunch.

The boy brandishing the rife was described as wearing a cowboy hat with waistcoat with a silver sheriffs badge chasing after another boy wearing an indian feather hat around the kiddies playpark.

All good fun, but let's hope it wasn't some nutter with a gun in the park. I commend the police for looking into this every time, even when it is likely to be a false alarm.

Better safe than sorry.

if you read the above article it seemed to be resolved on the day so why are they now looking for the teenager! The police ought to be more interested in the thugs pulling out knives and mugging people in the park!!

Park muggings are a concern. I have heard of several muggings in the park to children for their mobile phones.
