Residents in Abbots Langley are being given the opportunity to have their say on how a £60,000 grant can be spent to transform a green space.

The Hillside Residents Association has received the grant from the Watford Community Housing Trust to improve School Mead Green in to a community space.

This comes after the residents association applied for part of the trust’s £9m Better Communities Fund to improve the area.

Peter Scott, Chairman of Hillside Residents Association, said: "I am feeling good about this outcome and we are very pleased. "Now we have received the grant, we have to see what the residents want to spend the money on.

"It would be great to see benches, play areas for children and flower meadows here. This space has so much potential and will be a great community facility for the local residents."

The improvements are being delivered by Groundwork Hertfordshire, a community charity that has previously worked with the trust.

Options to revamp the space may include wild flower meadows, play facilities for young children and meeting points for the local community.

Euan Barr, head of new business at the trust, said: "As we saw at Croxley View, when you get the local community involved in a project like this you can achieve really fantastic results.

"We will be working closely with residents to deliver the improvements they want to see."

Residents are invited to give feedback at a meeting tomorrow (Thursday) in Hillside Baptist Church at 7pm.
