A man has been running 100 miles throughout January to raise money for Myeloma UK.

Chris Lumm, of Herkomer Road, Bushey, wants to raise awareness and remember his girlfriend’s mother, Jan Livings, who passed away last March from the illness, which is a cancer of the plasma cells.

Despite January's snow, icy roads and freezing temperatures Chris has been running six miles a day.

"I love seeing people with a smile on their face, and knowing I can put a smile on someone’s face for just a little bit longer is what keeps me going," he said.

Chris is having a break before taking on the Paris Marathon in April, as he has been suffering from shin splints for the last few days.

He added: "I want people to see why I am trying to make a difference to someone’s life - it’s all because of Jan."

Chris’ fundraising auction on the evening of February 9 at the Watford Hilton Hotel is already sold out.

It will feature items that include limousine trips, football tickets and signed West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Cardiff FC shirts.
