Queens Road? Isn't that a business area riddled with anti-social crimes?

Is Queens Road still part of Watford? Dotty, are you there dotty?

What crimes were they targeting and how? From a previous article:

"In fact, other than “deliberate fire”, Watford did not appear in the county’s top five best performing areas for any crime."

But there are awards with distinction to be had out there for that? Assault is up 30%, violent crime 14%, and most of that in the business areas of the town, not the housing estates.

Put the award next to the Purple Flag, SOMEBODY, somewhere might believe the hype.

We have three sentences which hardly gives any actual information on the scheme yet 7 posters knocking it.

Nothing like being prejudiced is there

I think it is more a case of cynical Tony. Most of us know what it is really like out there, but these people keep patting each other on the back and giving (or buying, like the Purple Flag) each other awards while the real problems are ignored.

I can understand people being cynical and Watford does have many crime problems. The awards were for the Business Against Crime inituitive run by the Chamber of Commerce and the safe car parks award.BAC in conjuction with security staff from the stores and our excellent police is very successful in preventing crime, banning persistant offenders and prosecuting.Intelleg
ence is shared with the stores, radios supplied and monthly meetings carried out to deal with outstanding issues.Of course there are issues with places like Queens Road but resources are limited.I for one work without pay or expenses so feel very sad that our hard work is derided.I blame the newspapers to some extent because good news does not sell papers. But our shopping centre whilst not perfect does have an effective crime prevention and detection organisation and our car parks are amongst the safest in the country. Most of our crime problems emanate from the night time economy which will only be resolved by restricting the drinking and more policing. So guys, please be positive-lobby your politicians for more police funding and volunteer your time to make the town a better place. So these awards are a welcome recognition of our efforts and with your and the WO is a strong basis to improve even further.
