Applications now open for Hertfordshire nurseries

Nursery applications for children in Hertfordshire have opened today.

Parents of children born between September 1, 2009, and August 31, 2010, have until Friday March 22 to get their choices in.

Frances Button, Hertfordshire County Council cabinet member for education and skills, said: "The first years of a child's school life set the foundations for future success and we want to make the application process as simple and straightforward as possible.

"Applying online is quick, safe and efficient and if you do not have internet access at home you can use the free public computers in county libraries or in your local children’s centre."

Equality of access is crucial to ensure fair play in what can be a very stressful situation as parents compete for a localised nursery as birth rates rise. Hopefully there is a nearby library.
