Bushey church given cash grant from Hertfordshire County Council's locality budget scheme

A Bushey Baptist church has been given a £1,500 cash grant to furnish a meeting room.

North Bushey Free Church was awarded the money from Hertfordshire County Council to buy furniture and beanbags for the room where young people meet twice a month.

The money has come from the council’s locality budget scheme.

All these grants from County council in the papers.

What generous county councillors you all have.

What's that? An election in May for county councillors? Who'd have thought it?

Has this councillor done enough to buy the christian and youth vote?

I would hope, and indeed imagine, the meeting room gets a little more use than that.

Fair point and I meant no disrespect to religious or youth groups, I was just going by the information in the article.

I was trying to point out the issue of these grants being spent as a means of currying favour with the electorate in the race for votes in the upcoming May elections.

The other issue of course is that we are coming towards the end of the financial year and therefore budgets must be spent, even locality grant budgets. Expect to see grants issued not just to worthy causes but other causes that kind of look a bit worthy in the right light.
