Royal Naval Reservists from Northwood were among more than 200 military personnel honoured for their efforts at last summer's London Olympics during a special reception organised by the London Assembly at City Hall on Thursday last week.

Reservists from HMS Wildfire at Northwood Naval Base, were heavily involved in supporting both the security operation and venue security at Greenwich Park.

Acting Sub Lieutenant Dominic Simonis, 25, from Northwood was based at Greenwich Park and helped with the venue security force.

He attended the reception and said: "The Olympic and Paralympics Games was a once in a generation event. I feel extremely proud and privileged to have played a role in supporting the country and contributing to a successful, safe and secure Olympic Games".

He added, "The public were absolutely amazing to us."

The men and women, both Regular and Reserve, from the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force were formally thanked by Darren Johnson, Deputy Chair of the London Assembly, and his colleagues for their personal contribution to the success of the Games last summer.
