Campaigners from a women’s charity danced down Watford High Street to mark a world campaign to end violence against women.
Members of the Watford Women’s Centre took to the streets in Watford last week to mark One Billion Rising, a global campaign to stop abuse against women.
Watford New Hope Trust (WNHT) also joined in on the event, as they plan to open a women’s refuge for those who have become homeless as a result of domestic abuse.
Tracy Burke, CEO of the women’s centre said: "We were delighted to welcome WNHT on board the first of what we are determined will become an annual event to challenge violence against women across the world.’

Discrimination swings both ways. I'm sure your volunteers are right that some women in the refuge might find the presence of a man disturbing, but then to treat a whole gender as if they were pariahs, well, that's not going to help anyone's rehabilitation is it? I certainly hope they have changed over the last 10 years and become more inclusive. There are many men who would campaign against domestic violence alongside the women.

I'm not putting it on a par but its along the same lines of people being wary of all dogs because they were once bitten many years before

Trt, you are right that men can be subject to domestic violence too however I personally can totally understand how women who have suffered at the hands of a man would be wary of all men. Especially if they are living in a refuge which I believe indicates that their suffering only ended relatively recently.

I would prefer they marched against violence against women, not for it.
I hate the idea of violence against women, it is despicable.
