Fire crews called to tackle "massive car fire"
Fire crews in Watford were called to a "massive car fire" at a busy petrol station this afternoon.
Firefighters from Watford’s Red Watch attended the blaze on the forecourt of the Tesco petrol station in Lower High Street.
The fire was extinguished from a grey Peugeot at just gone 1pm.
Two breathing apparatus and two hose reels were needed to put the fire out, which is believed to have been accidental.
The Red Watch Twitter account commented: "Just returned from a massive car fire on Tesco garage forecourt. Efficiently stopped in its tracks with no casualties".

Sad times, but at least I could get a job as a journalist. I know how to surf the internet.

The car looks a proper mess so I can well imagine it being a fire ball. Lots of flamable stuff in a car even before you get to the fuel tank

Some people might be interested in reading what the Fire Brigade do day to day so no need to criticise them for having a twitter account.

I could do that myself, if I used Twitter.

Everytime I drive past that petrol station there are lots of people waiting to fill up with petrol so its not inconceivable that there would have been a number of cars and people nearby. Petrol is flamable so there was a risk of an explosion when the heat/flames reached the fuel tank and cooked it. There would have been plenty of smoke possibly making it difficult for those driving past to get in/out of the store.
I know its their job but good on the brigade for another fire tackled in an effective way
