Labour has chosen a borough councillor to contest Hertsmere in the next general election.

Richard Butler, who represents the Kenilworth ward in Borehamwood, was selected to be the party's parliamentary candidate at the 2015 election.

The 27-year-old first joined the labour party when he was 15 and then became a town councillor when he was 21.

He said: "I am really looking forward to seeing what I can bring to Hertsmere by running for MP. I am a local boy so can relate to issues in the area."
