Bridge drive to raise cash for the Paul Strickland Scanner Appeal
4:30pm Monday 4th March 2013 in News By Claire Lomas, Content Editor
Residents are invited to a charity bridge drive in aid of a centre that provides scanning services for the early diagnosis of cancer and other serious diseases.
The drive will be taking place later this month at West Herts Golf Club in Rousebarn Lane, Rickmansworth, to raise cash for the Paul Strickland Scanner Appeal.
The charity is planning to install a new PET/CT scanner, the most technologically advanced machine available for an accurate diagnosis, which costs around £1 million.
The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is an independent medical charity based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood and provides state-of-the-art scanning services for the early diagnosis of cancer and other serious diseases.
The charity receives no government funding and relies on donations and fundraising to obtain new scanners, which can cost upwards of £1 million a year and have to be replaced every 3-5 years.
The event will be held on Monday, March 18 at 1.30pm. Teams of four are invited to play Bridge and afternoon tea will be provided.
