Alarm system scares off burglars at Bushey Cricket Club

Would-be burglars who tried to force their way into an Oxhey cricket club were frightened off when an alarm sounded.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said part of the metal shutters were removed from Bushey Cricket Club, in Eastbury Road, and a wooden door was hacked at before the alarm was triggered during the early hours of Monday.

Police said a search of the surrounding area revealed the suspects had gained access to the ground from the adjoining land by building a makeshift bridge over the stream.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the attempted break-in to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency 101 number quoting crime reference C1/13/1092.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
