Two women who have helped run the 21st Watford Brownies for almost three decades are retiring.

Brown Owl Mrs Val Challis (photo right) has run the pack for 28 years having started when her own daughter, Mandy, joined as a child.

Her assistant, Tawny Owl Mrs Jan Lee, joined the group soon after.

Their efforts will be honoured during a special Mothering Day service at St Peters Church, Bushey Mill Lane, Watford, at 10am on Sunday, March 10.

All past and present friends of the pack are invited to the service and a celebratory party from 3.30pm until 6.30pm on Saturday, March 23, in the church hall.
