Former curator of prehistory at the Museum of London, Jon Cotton, will be lecturing to members of the South West Herts Archaeological and History Society at Cassio Lodge, Watford, on Wednesday, March 20.
He has taken a new look at artefacts from the Thames to see how deposition patterns can be interpreted in the light of recent reporting of foreshore finds.
The group's final meeting of the season at Cassio Lodge on Wednesday, April 17 will feature Professor Tom Williamson, author of The Origins of Hertfordshire.
He will discuss the origins and antiquity of everyday features of the local landscape such as fields and roads producing evidence of early, perhaps prehistoric, planning.
