Award proposal in memory of former parish councillor Ivy Young

A special award to celebrate the life of former parish councillor Ivy Young is to be discussed at an Abbots Langley parish council meeting next week.

As well as rewarding residents for their special village contributions at this year’s Civic awards ceremony last night, chairman of the parish council, Councillor Keith Williams has put forward a motion to introduce a "one off" award in memory of the late Ms Young.

The award would be presented as a plaque to the Abbots Langley branch of the Royal British Legion, where Ms Young acted as secretary for many years.

Ms Young died in February after her health deteriorated following a stroke in November last year, aged 82.

She was born at her house in Langley Lane, where she lived her whole life and served for Abbots Langley Parish Council, for more than 18 years.

The award, in honour of Ms Young, will be discussed at a parish council meeting on Monday (March 11) at 7.30 pm in the council offices, Langley Road.
