The jangle of penny coins can be heard in a school as children help raise cash for charity.

Year four pupils at Edge Grove, in Aldenham Village, have been collecting old coppers to send to the Landirani Trust, a charity supporting orphans in Malawi.

The seven and eight-year-olds were each handed jam jars in January, and took them home to fill with money for the African charity.

Last week, the children - known as the Jam Jar Army - totalled up the amount raised to over £100 and are said to be over the moon with their success.
