Resurfacing of Ebury Way cycle route begins

Work has begun to resurface a popular cycle route linking Watford and Rickmansworth.

The Ebury Way connects the two towns with a 3.5 mile cycle path on the site of an old railway track and has proved popular with cyclists and walkers.

Contractors began work ripping up the old surface and replacing it with recycled material in yesterday (March 12) and are expected to finish the job on March 28.

Diversions will be in place during this time. The material is only being put down in the short sections that are currently Tarmaced. The work is being funded from the county council’s cycling budget.

At the same time repairs are being carried out and timbers replaced on bridges over the canal and tributaries at the Rickmansworth end, this work will be funded by Three Rivers District Council.

Seems a bit ridiculous to resurface the sections of Ebury way that already have tarmac, whilst leaving the muddy/gravel parts untouched. The tarmaced parts are OK as they are.

Why not repair the hundreds of potholes on the roads and leave Ebury Way alone?
