Dancers from Halpin School of Irish Dancing compete at annual competition
9:40am Thursday 14th March 2013 in News By Kathryn Snowdon, Reporter
The Halpin School of Irish Dancing hosted The Claddagh Feis.
An Irish dancing school held their annual, nation-wide competition in Watford over the weekend.
The Halpin School of Irish Dancing hosted The Claddagh Feis at St Michael's School, High Elms Lane, Garston, with more than 220 dancers from the home counties and the Channel Islands performing.
On Saturday (March 9), The Feis ran from 9am - 8.30pm, with dancers between five and 12 years old performing both individually and as a team.
On Sunday (March 10), the competition finished an hour earlier, with dancer 13+ years taking to centre stage.
Halpin School dance teacher, Marie Mchugh, said The Feis represented friendship and loyalty, as many dancing schools, families and their children come back every year.
Mrs Mchugh said many of the competitors will be competing at The World Championships in Dublin during Easter.
She added: "The host school won many medals and trophies including winning three figure championships during the course of the weekend.
"Congratulations to all of the dancers who took part."
