A special one off award to commemorate the life of former parish councillor Ivy Young will be given to the Royal British Legion branch in Abbots Langley.
At a parish council meeting on Tuesday, it was confirmed a plaque will be presented and displayed with the mementos and regalia of the RBL branch, where Ms Young acted as secretary for many years Parish council chair, Councillor Keith Williams put forward the motion to introduce a civic award in memory of Ms Young who died in February, which was passed unanimously.
Councillor Williams said: "In addition to the three awards made at the annual parish meeting, I would like this year to make a special one off award to the memory of Ivy Young.
"Although Ivy was never eligible for the award because she was a parish councillor, I am certain we would have presented Ivy with a civic award otherwise.
"This is for her work here at the parish council and her considerable voluntary work- most notably for the Royal British Legion and in particular related to organising the annual Poppy Appeal within the parish.
