Girl, 12, injured in South Oxhey mugging on Saturday

A 12 year old girl was injured as two men mugged her in South Oxhey over the weekend.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said the girl was walking across the golf course near Gosforth Lane at around 9.15am on Saturday when the males, who were walking passed her, turned around and grabbed her bag.

During the ensuing struggle the girl fell over and suffered grazes to her hands and face.

The males then made off with the bag in the direction of Highlands.

The suspects were described as both wearing hooded tops and tracksuit bottoms.

PC Sam Floyd, who is investigating, said: “This was a despicable robbery on a young girl which has left her feeling very shaken.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously in the area at the time or who may have seen them running along Gosforth Lane or in the Highlands, to contact us immediately.

“I would like to reassure members of the public that this type of occurrence is rare and we are doing everything we can to locate those responsible and bring them to justice.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on its 101 telephone number.

Disgusting! Hope they catch these scumbags and lock them up! For god's sake it was a 12 yr old girl, bad enough to mug anyone but this is a defenceless girl, they should be ashamed of themselves!

Its not that rare in south oxhey,when only a few monthes ago in ralston way south oxhey a young boy was robbed of his phone.

It's hardly a sophisticated crime occurring in a less than sophisticated area perpetrated on a young girl by males dressed for the part. One hardly has to be a rocket scientist to arrive at the comment that I did.

The geography of your journalists does not help the police, I do not understand why they always seem to get it wrong. Please check on Multimap first. The Highlands is nowhere near Gosforth Lane if anything it runs parallel to Hayling Road. Please Check Your Facts!! If the police got their facts wrong I apologise.
