Top children's author Ian Whybrow inspires pupils during visit

Pupils at three schools were visited by children’s author Ian Whybrow last Monday.

Mr Whybrow dropped in on pupils in Oxhey Wood Primary and Maple Cross JMI and Chalfont Valley E-ACT Academy to read from his book Harry and the Dinosaurs.

At each of the schools, pupils were given signed copies of his book, a gesture that was funded by a Hertfordshire County Council locality grant to The Chorleywood Bookshop.

Emma Grew, Deputy Head of Oxhey Wood Primary School said: "The children have been very busy reading their books - they are practically glued to them and have also done some follow up work on meerkats in assembly.

"There have been lots of comments from the children about how great the books are and particularly how lucky they feel to have met Ian and have him sign a book.

"We are very grateful for the experience that you provided our children and it has certainly got them motivated in reading."

That's good for this age group. By the time they become teenagers, they will probably de-evolve to text speak.
