Trains cancelled between St Albans Abbey and Watford Junction after overhead wiring problems
4:19pm Monday 18th March 2013 in News
By Zoe Forsey, Senior Reporter
Train services between St Albans Abbey and Watford Junction have been cancelled for the second time in a week.
The Abbey Flyer service is not running due to overhead wiring problems.
However London Midland staff hope that the service will be up and running again at 5.30pm ready for the evening’s rush hour.
Replacement buses are currently running between the two stations.
Commuters faced similar cancellations on Thursday morning due to a broken train.

It really is a run down service, about time it was upgraded.

A loop at Bricket Wood would permit a more frequent train service and improved track & signalling at Watford Junction allow through working from St. Albans Abbey to Euston (& return) in the peak. Now that would be a real boon, but that takes investment and train operators only want to squeeze profit from commuters & the taxpayer not improve the railway.

A quick study of the map confirms that they haven't moved Wolverton between How Wood and Park Street so it shouldn't be a problem. Today's LM excuse was that the crew couldn't travel to run the service due to the disruption. Well the trains were running really, or they could have put them in a taxi?
But no - don't bother. LM all over.
