Balloons, live entertainment and rain all featured heavily at the opening of the new Watford New Hope Trust charity shop on Saturday (March 16).

The shop in New Road officially opened at 9.30am with a speech by Mike Smith, Watford New Hope Trust's (WNHT) chief executive, before blinds were opened to reveal the inside of the store.

Despite the weather, the mood was jolly with a WNHT supporter playing the guitar outside the shop from 9am while refreshments were offered inside.

Mike Hewitt, WNHT’s Retail Development Manager, said: "We were amazed at the level of support the shop received.

"It was fantastic to see so many people come out, despite the rain. It was an incredibly successful day."

Good luck with all you do for the very vulnerable of our community. In a time of naked ambition and greed, there are many who get left behind or are crushed in the rat race. It could happen to anyone.
