Watford Community Housing Trust investigates Abbots Langley bomb rumours

The Watford Community Housing Trust is currently looking into rumours of unexploded bombs underneath a green space in Abbots Langley.

In January, the housing trust awarded the Hillside Residents Association with a £60,000 grant to improve their community space.

However rumours by residents about unexploded bombs underneath the site, thought to have circulated in a pub, has meant the housing trust will now carry out safety checks before Groundwork develop the site.

Joe Dumont, spokesperson from the trust said: "As far as we are aware this is a completely unsubstantiated rumour, based on something that one person said to another once in a pub.

"We have followed it up with the local historical society and there are no records of any unexploded ordinance in this area.

"However, we will as a matter of course ensure that all the necessary safety checks are carried out before work starts on site."

What were they planning to do on the green that would set off a bomb? I would have thought a few paths or whatever they do would cause a problem.
We have a few folk who have lived near the green since the houses were built, so they would know about bomb rumours.
I would have thought this sort of information was documented by the authorities too.
I suppose a quick safety check by the army would resolve matters one and for all.
