Six cleared of causing GBH in Watford attack
Six youths have been cleared of an attack on a man who had his jaw broken on a Watford street corner.
Mohammed Idreese Malik had been walking with two friends on their way to a McDonalds, when he claimed to have been attacked and left unconscious at the junction of The Harebreaks and Chestnut Walk on December 21, 2011.
The prosecution at St Albans Crown Court alleged the attack took place because one of the group Hasan Shah, 19, didn't want Mr Malik to see his sister. He had met the girl on a couple of occasions and contacted her via Facebook.
Mr Shah of Acorn Place, Watford; Waqas Akhtar, 18, of The Thrums, Watford; Farus Butt, 18, of The Harebreaks Watford; Salmaan Chohan, 20, of Beech Road, Watford; Omar Hamid-Chohan, 18, The Harebreaks, Watford and a 17 year old youth who was 16 at the time, were all cleared by the jury of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and an alternative lesser charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
